ConMet:
Consolidated Metco, (ConMet) sought to break out of a tired, old and poorly lit building in an industrial area of North Portland. The destination: a picturesque natural setting along the Columbia River, with tons of natural light and breathtaking views. This dramatic physical change in location, surroundings and work environment posed a unique challenge to Environments and YGH: help create an interior environment that complimented and incorporated the beautiful natural surroundings while providing the right blend of privacy, openness, natural light, views of the river and personal space. In addition, the space needed to facilitate collaboration, ease of work flow and overall productivity. Reluctant at first to lower workstation horizons as employees had been used to more privacy, ConMet's decision to go with 48" panels has provided a surprisingly accommodating "feeling" for these employees. Best of all, everyone on the floor now enjoys a direct view of the beautiful natural surroundings.
